Current Transformer Testers
APPLICATION AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The CTS-1 test system is designed for a precise verification of the basic
parameters – turns ratio and phase shift angle – of all types current
transformers according to the requirements in IEC 44-1/1996 standard. The
system is offered in modules, which can be fixed on a carriage; this enables the
measurements to be carried out as well in a laboratory as on site. The modules
are provided in versions up to 1200 A (CTS-1/1000)
and up to 2400 A (CTS-
1/2000).
By means of the CTS-1 system, demagnetization of the current transformer, loading at different cos φ and S (apparent power), measurement and indication of the Z-burden values, etc., can be carried out. The system operates in manual mode, or under computer control via RS 232. When controlled by computer, a fully automatic mode of operation with preliminarily given parameters can be achieved.
The CTS-1 test system consists of four basic modules:
- Programmable current source up to 1200 A (2400 A)
- Precision measurement instrument (class 0.04) for current transformer parameters
- Compensated standard current transformer with sub-ranges
- Z-burden – for loading at powers from 1 VA to 60 VA, cos φ = 1 and 0.8.
Each system module is an independent device and can be purchased separately.
